Somehow I turned 60 last year without ever experiencing my 50’s. I was so focused on surviving a rare blood disorder, launching sons, paying the mortgage, and just generally keeping my nose above the water line that a decade screamed by.
So I’m asking me, and all of you, who do I want to be at 80 and how do I get there? Consciously? Intentionally? Joyfully?

And then one day you realize that life is just a tiny bit easier. Some of the heavy slogging is behind you, some of the self doubt and second guessing is over, and suddenly the sun is shining a wee bit brighter.
It’s been a tough couple of months but maybe summer is ready to enter my heart ❤️

It is in the small moments,
Blue skies, blooming roses,
The gentle pat on the back from a friend,
Mixed with service to others, Monday morning blahs, and gut wrenching heartbreak that all come together to create a life of meaning and joy.
Oh, and fresh strawberries eaten in the sunshine
For the past fourteen years I have had a rare blood disorder.
Sometimes it is in remission and life sails along. Sometimes it’s an annoyance and sometimes it’s dangerous.
Recently I had to step away from visiting my favorite place on earth, Lake Tahoe, because my health was too precarious.
Logical choice though a bit heart breaking.
These are the moments when you get to choose to fight or surrender and sometimes surrendering means you get to fight another day.
